Jen Nardi, a former goalie for the UMass women’s lacrosse team, has been named assistant coach of the Vermont women’s lacrosse team.
Check out the official release here.
Not sure if it’s just my browser, but this article is showing up a bit discombobulated. Just scroll down to the bottom if you’re having the same problem.

Garvin Hunt, a 6’9 center and UMass recruit, has reportedly visited Delaware and will check out UPenn on Saturday.
There’s some decent competition on that list, but I’d like to think that UMass is a bigger name than most of them. South Florida’s proximity and Big East status looks to bode well, but who knows?
Scout.com says he has “no interest” in being a Bull … but it also says he has no interest in Harvard when several sources have indicated that he was intrigued by the new-look Crimson.
Like I said – who knows?

The Massachusetts men’s basketball team released its schedule today – check it out. Make sure you have Adobe so you can open the PDF version.
The schedule doesn’t look too bad, but it doesn’t look too intimidating either. Regardless, I just wish UMass could have gotten a team from a high-major conference to come to the Mullins Center.

Well I told you guys that I couldn’t find the Appalachian State call earlier in the week. Well, I found it. I also laughed out loud at work:
Enjoy.

A couple of small football items kicking around this morning.
UMass wide receiver J.J. Moore won the Gold Helmet Award for this week. Check out the article from the Boston Herald*. It’s mentioned at the bottom, so scroll on down.

Jim Wilson, a sportswriter with the Worcester Telegram, wrote a story about Michael Okayka — a receiver for the Shrewsbury football team. If you scroll down to the bottom, it lists the schools he’s interested in. The Minutemen are on the list:
Okayka is looking to play at UMass, the University of New Hampshire or Akron University in college, but acknowledges he needs to get his grades up first if he wants to play at that level.
Check out the article … sounds like a solid talent.
* Thanks to Nick for the correction.
